Cambria and San Simeon |
|
Cambria is located 13 miles north of Cayucos. Cambria is divided into east and west sides so be sure to visit both areas. There is shopping and restuarants in both. Cayucos and Cambria are noted for their antique shops. The Main Street Grill in west Cambria has the best BBQ Tri-tip in the area. San Simeon & Hearst Castle is approximately 25 milses north of Cayucos. Hearst Castle was built by William Randolf Hearst as his winter home. The Hearst Family donated it to the State of California in 1955 and with several different tours may be the only state park to generate more revenue than it needs. Just after Thanksgiving it is fully decorated for the Christmas tours. Evening tours sell out early so make your reservations a head of time. North of Hearst Castle is the winter home and birthing area for the Elephant Seals. And just north of that is the Pedras Blancas Light House. It is a federal park with limited viewing hours. |
