Big Sur, Monterey & Carmel |
|
Big Sur is located approximately 95 miles north of Cayucos and noted for the rugged cliffs and surf. Everyone should make the drive up scenic coast Highway One at least once in their lifetime. It is a slow trip but filled with cliffs and surf with tiny beaches nestled in little alcoves. There are also a few small state and federal parks along the way. Plan this trip in eary fall before the winter rains was out the road. Monterey is a much easier and faster drive up Highway 101 from Paso Robles (approx 2 hours). Monterey has a fabulous aquarium, convention sites, shopping and restrauants. Cannery row is a popular destination and the Bubba Gump Shrimp Factory is a good place to eat. Carmel, home of Pebble Beach Golf resort and the world famous 17 mile drive is another wonderful destination for a days outing. Monarch butterflies winter in December and January on their migration from Canada to Mexico each year. |
